It's not just men

Today, as we were discussing our plans for 2026, I suggested we go vegan as it's healthier and better for the planet. My husband said, "Ask me to go vegan again and I'll have divorce papers for you the next day." Why? Why are men so adamantly opposed to veganism? FML

How would you like to be nagged into eating meat? What a person eats is their own goddamn business. I don't blame him. Plus, vegans usually have an air of superiority that's insufferable.

Because he has no interest in going vegan?

Because he has tastebuds and doesn’t want to live a life being condemned to eat awful overly processed cardboard substitutes for food he enjoys.

Because veganism gets shoved down peoples throats the same way Westboro baptists tried with their 'christianity' and we all know how well that went down.

clear cutting thousands of miles of forests/rainforests for soybean farming seems counterproductive to saving the planet.

Healthy meat eating female commenting here to tell you, you deserved it.

I think you should notice the HUGE red flag. If he would have said something like no way, forget about it, or something similar it's one thing. But since his reaction is I'll divorce you if you ask me again. It shows: 1. He thinks about it 2. Every argument pushes him in that direction 3. There are taboo subjects you can't discuss (probably not the only one). Worry less about saving the planet and start thinking how to save your marriage.
