Let it out

Today, I'd built up the courage to talk to my doctor about anxiety, even rehearsing what to say. When she asked, “So what brings you in today?” I immediately burst into tears, said, “I don’t know,” then apologized for crying. She handed me tissues and said, “This happens a lot,” which somehow made me cry harder. FML

Anxiety is common, and can be addressed. I hope your doctor had some ideas to help you. You're not alone, like she says.

My wife has used a letter before to voice her needs or concerns. It helps as it can’t break you down mid read. Hand it to check in assistant, say it’s for the doctor for your appointment with their eyes only regarding the visit, and they he can read it without you in presence to know how to approach it.
