NAVY stands for Never Again Volunteer Yourself, but sometimes, you get Voluntold.

This artist really digged through the box. Good drawing, but I don't think the background colors suit the mood very well.
Actually, I think the colors are perfect. The guy doesn't expect anything to happen, he's just sitting there playing with his... blocks... and everything is fine and dandy, until...
Jet
Not to mention the dude in the picture is army, not navy lol.. But the art is really good
... That's a scary picture...

Someone should make a drawing of FML#: /miscellaneous/3207661
The colors are correct. Look, the kid is building something with blocks, therefore the person dragging him away is a seabee!!
(In case you don't know, the seabees are the construction force of the Navy and we wear the camoflage)
Colors are 'correct'? Clearly you don't know anything about art.
I think he just meant that the uniform was accurate, not describing the picture in an artistic way.
#91 - On 09/12/2009 at 10:04pm by emolilyx
Apparently you know nothing about military. He wasn't commenting on the art colors, he was commenting on the uniform. Please read more carefully next time.
haha wonderful way to describe these color-fanatics (:
Oh no, the artist has used color #cf373gd instead of #cf289fe.
Go fuck yourselves. ^^
There isn't a "g" in hex codes. Noob. :P
LOL owned. They really should learn hex. And art. And how to not be a Nazi. Regardless, I like the picture, and the colors do make sense (yay for the seabee comment, they are awesome!).
LOLwut. Yeaa, thing is I dont do hex cos I'm too busy helping to design the office you probably sit in everyday. Structural Engineering for the win, fucktard.
This comment has been moderated.
Hex is easy, 1-9, then A-F, even jerks like yourself can learn it. And yay for leaning things at a young age, I am not old enough to have a job yet. Jumping to complain/guessing mode much?
12 year olds who praise their own intelligence on the internet are fucking idiotic
O_o. The background DOES make sense. The kid was in a calm environment, and the light blue looks cool and calm and totally innocent. Then whoosh comes the soldier, all muddy and camouflage.
The person using the bad hex was CRITICISING the nazis, not BEING a nazi... YOU were being the Nazi, a hex nazi.
Shway. Someone backed me up a lil. Fuck HexNazis.
The colour are correct?...colour never correct..just show artist feeling...Maybe correct means beautiful.
I love the colour...great illustration.
Creepy 40 year olds who think that their age means they can be jerks to other jerks on the internet are also idiots. I didn't point it out first. EVERYONE is a jerk on the internet, get over it. And why did everyone steal my Hexnazi reference!?
its great and its "dug" not "digged" sorry, it just really bothered me
Wow, I didn't know that bit of trivia about the Navy! It's awesome if the artist would that much thought into the picture, and it wasn't just a coincidence.
No, iKaite, fuck so-called engineers who don't even know simple hex. I'm willing to bet you're actually still a dime-a-dozen uni student still struggling to study civil engineering and you're crushing under the weight of a class as simple as calc 2 or physics 101. I doubt you'll graduate. You'll probably give up and switch to nursing, then fail out of that too. Have fun with your communications degree.
They probably just got the wrong name/address. You should just ignore it, it deffinatly wasn't worth putting on this website.
#2 - On 02/08/2009 at 12:14pm by hello
his parents might of applied for him
Or someone else applied claiming that he was him, as a prank or something.
#81 - On 09/12/2009 at 6:14pm by Theo
I think it was worth it to post. Anyone can have you apply for the armed forces. I bet it'd be a bitch to sort too.

How the F is this even postworthy?
#3 - On 02/09/2009 at 2:08am by blimpblimp
oh yes, this is post worthy, especially if OP did not have any plans of signing up for the navy
cool illustration btw
#50 - On 09/12/2009 at 11:11am by spinarium
yea, DEFINITELY un-postworthy
#50: It takes a LOT more to join the Navy than just applying. There are far more steps to it. Talk to any recruiter-- you can't just apply like that, unless you're going to a Navy school, but even then, you'd still have to go through more than just a stupid application.
It was probably just an impersonal flyer that went out to the entire block.
Definitely not post-worthy.

Maybe your parents want you OUT of their house :P

Run to Canada while there's still time.
#5 - On 02/11/2009 at 9:38am by GJO
You know, the way things are going there... he might be better off staying in the states.
Nah we still have a while before it gets that bad. I'd look into Europe for long-term planning though.
You realize the only reason Canada is involved is to clean up the mess George W. caused when he decided to powerfuck an entire country, right?
You're not officially in the military until you report for basic training. Call the local recruitment office and let them know you didn't even apply. If they try to make a big deal out of it, just hang up, and don't report. There is legally nothing they can actually do, but they'll do everything they can to try to force you.

I think its funny how people give advice like this. You guys are fucking idiots. 98 % chance this is fake, and a 1% chance the the OP will read your post, followed by a 1% chance that it was even helpful and hadn't thought of it by himself. Idiot.
100% of those statistics sounds completly made-up.

100% of your mum's statistics were made up. But the guy basically got it right, maybe with a bit of embelishment/poetic justice for the sake of proving a point. The 'serious' comments on FML are just so lame, they're more comic than the farsical ones.
YES lets give this guy advice becuase we all know hes dumb??? WTF im pretty sure he doesnt care what you say.... neither do i... its funny and a cute pic end of story
About 73% of all statistics are just made up on the fly anyway.
Look pal, here's the thing. Joining the military entails a myriad of paperwork, and things you have to sign. It's not an application, it's not that easy. So really, there's nothing to worry about. Believe me, I just joined the Air Force, you gotta jump through hoops to join up.
#7 - On 02/11/2009 at 11:56am by airforcekarl
Actually, with the Navy, you only have to jump through hoops to go in as an officer. As enlisted, it's a matter of a couple weeks. I should know, my husband has talked to 3 recruiters, and my friend is a SEAL.
uhhh no, you have to sign a crap ton of paper work to join enlisted and take a day out of your life to go get an official military physical. I should know, I'm in the Navy lol.
My uncle was pulled over for speeding or something back in 1967 while home on leave. The police checked his name and he was promptly arrested for not responding to his draft notice. Apparently, Grandma was holding his mail for him...the whole time he was in Vietnam.

And if you havent noticed, nowhere near the "love" category.
HAHAHAHAHA!!! SUCKS FOR YOU!!!
i hate to break it to you amigo, but that's not how it works...there is a whole process you go though with paperwork, then you go to MEPS, and you swear the oath of enlistment...its not just a, i'm gonna apply for a job scenario

agreed #7, at least we (supposedly) jumped through hoops for the right service
I just got a letter asking me to re-enlist in the navy today. I'm 16 O.o
sweet... preemptive recruitment... it's genius
#5, quit sending all your filthy cowardly hippies up here... we're running out of ice floes to push them out to sea on. Global warming... you know...
lol, your parents sign you up?
Thats dumb #20. Parents cant sign kids up. FAIL!
Why is this a FML? This isn't even bad, I would just through the letter away.... This makes no sense at all. You don't deserve any more cookies EVER!!!!
Cookie!
You would just through it away? Wow, great english
YOU'VE BEEN DRAFFTED!!! RUN AWAY!!!

Just because the people who defend our country are great men and women doesn't mean the people who chose NOT to sign up for the military aren't great people too. The post wasn't even disrespectful in the slightest.
I know! That wasn't disrespectful at all! It's a funny little story that sucks for him, not an insult to people in the navy!
that's an FML?
You got something against Service?
Mr/Ms Montgomery, thanks much for your support of the Armed Forces.
#22 - There hasn't been a draft for forty years. Moron.
I agree with #3, there is a better site for thiS kind of pathetic fml. It's called my lid is average. Don't waste space on this site for this retarded fml oh and just ignore it
The cartoon is brilliant, but the FML seems more like a clerical error...
#29 - On 09/12/2009 at 8:24am by hauntingsleep
Well you are lucky you are in US. In Russia they give you two choices: Jail or Army
In Soviet Russia, Army Enlist YOU!!
ahh gotta love a good old Yakov Smirnoff joke although his jokes do get kinda of annoying after a while there ok every once in a while
the army doesnt enlist chuck norris, chuck norris enlists the army
had to see this one coming
OMG EPIC WIN XD

Oh my gosh!! The op is so ride!! The men and women serving our country deserve the highest hoenor and then you come on here and post this....WOAH
The problem here is, si some people are chickens and would NOT want to join the army. I personally wouldn't want to, but that doesn't mean i disrespect them. Some people just don't want to have to be a part of it.
Moron. Just because somebody wouldn't want to be in the army doesn't mean they hate them. I don't want to be a Doctor or a Physicist, but do I hate those? No.
the illustration for this fml is great, and yes I think it is an FML because he didnt sign up for the Navy. The OP is not being disrespectful by saying that he doesnt want to go. I know I would consider my life fucked if I was enrolled for any of the armed forces when i didnt want to be part of them.
geez, guys, i really don't think the point here is to be disrespectful towards soldiers. the point is that joining the armed forces is an enormous, grueling, potentially life-endangering, lengthy and -binding- commitment which he never had any intention of making. probably a pretty easy situation to get out of, considering the circumstances, but still a little harrowing at first glance.
or "omg fake!!111", whatever floats your boat.
anyway. LOVE the illustration. simple, great style, and funny!
#37 - On 09/12/2009 at 9:35am by jmeg
luv the drawing, but why is the category "love"?
LOVE the illustration!
And btw FYL...!
LMFAO @ #17 x)

great illustration! this artist has really good talent! :D
Claim mental illness. They won't take people who are Bipolar and I know this because I wanted to apply but they said I couldn't join. FML!
#56 - On 09/12/2009 at 12:13pm by beautiful_mayhem
christ people, why the hell are you all fighting about this!? yeah, its a crappy FML, yeah we all need to respect the army, navy and everyone else. but do you all honestly need to FIGHT about it?! god.
LOL.
#62 - On 09/12/2009 at 1:00pm by 100lol
This is a pretty boring FML. No one should be surprised that it's a pretty boring illustration.
#63 - On 09/12/2009 at 1:11pm by justjayit
I hatehateHATE reading the comments!
[[Why I always do, I will never know...]]
Why does everyone always have to make such a big deal about things? Seriously.
Just because it was a mistake and it's not a big deal to get out of, doesn't mean it's not an FML. It can be silly little things too, it doesn't have to be big things. Also keep in mind not everyone feels the same way about things as you do, so what seems like an FML to one person isn't to someone else. Accept it and move on.
Most of my family is in the military or was at one point, and I don't find this disrespectful at all. He was just saying he never signed up for it. That doesn't mean he hates the military, he just doesn't want to join. It's not for everyone, and that's ok.
This site is just supposed to be for fun. So please stop reading so much into everything people post on here. It's not hurting you in any way, so let it go. If you don't like it, don't read it.
P.S.
Have you ever clicked the "Moderate the FMLs" link at the top of the page in nice bright red letters?
That's where anyone can vote on the FMLs they want to see on the site. So YOU basically PICKED this!
There's too much fighting and hate going on in the streets and everywhere else in the world nowadays, so can we please stop trying to create more over stupid little things that really don't matter at all?
Thanks.

Internet flamers: Socially inept outside their basement, they don't know any better then to flame the internet with misery because that's all they've known.
Dude, I agree with everything you just said. These things are a matter of opinion. Also, if anyone needs to get a life, it's the people that come on here and do the whole, "OMG THAT'S NOT AN FML!!!!" because really... Who cares? It's a silly website meant for entertainment. You wanna do stuff like that, go find a debate forum.
maybe it's an FML in "love" because they think someone who loves them signed them up? I don't know the application process but I assume you need some info on the person... Maybe I'm wrong.
hahaha nice illustration :D
sum1 applied for him maybe
why is this in the love category?
LOVE the illustration. The look on the baby's face is fucking PRICELESS.
The reason it's in "love"? Hay thurr sailorrr
LMFAO!!! Awesome answer for the love category question!!
"The party scene is kinda mean, I think its sick and twisted.
The navy showed up at my door and claimed that I enlisted!"
-Relient K "College Kids"
One word...."Conscription".
The US isn't currently doing conscription. Not in this war, at least.
Haha, I love that Relient K song!

Those little church boys in Reliank K can go suck a fat cock.
He may have applied for a job online, not knowing he was putting in an application for a recruiter to contact him. That is how I got into the Seabees. I applied for an job as an electrician online and the next day a Navy recruiter called me.
I'm sure some of the stories are true because my friend posted one that had to do with me the other night.. Lmao!
This is a awesome!! great illustration that I haven't seen for long time. and cool FML..
I love it..Keep it up.
In other country there are so much unfair about force in military. They sent private (soldier) to the war just only for the benefit in business of their government...So sad.
That sucks OP.
Really good art work, wish i could do that.
Absolutely wicked comic. :)
Lol, I'm pretty sure that #22's draft comment was a joke. No need for name calling =P
wow.... ive laughed more reading the comments than reading the actual FML's XD
I just think it's amusing that there are 111 comments on this thing. And only like 6 actually have to do with the illustration. The rest are all arguments. This is what you spend your life doing? Good work.
#113 - On 09/13/2009 at 10:57pm by reaganmc10
(trolls about your comment)
Joining the military doesn't work like this in any way, so this is a pretty shitty FML and I'm annoyed the mods chose to bring it back with an illustration.
#116 - On 09/14/2009 at 1:14am by Flounder
People, you don't submit an application to join the armed forces
This FML's a hoax
i think someone in the military didn't understand that bush didn't get the draft back.
umm ... i applied for the navy and i didn't hear back. consider yourself lucky and that you have every chance to be taken in again. where as I'm stuck in a dead end job. thanks for not being desperate to check your email on the day acceptance comes out.
hahaha nice illustration it really captures the mood =)
Unless you sign a contract, you haven't joined the military. You can't apply to the NAVY. You sign a contract, and raise your right hand and take the oath. You'd be lucky to get in the Navy or any other branch of the Military.
Wow, I didn't know the American Navy started drafting babies. Do they even make safety-assault-rifles or bayonets that are duller than Crayola safety scissors?
I love this, this is by far the best I've seen yet.
Why is there ever an art for this?
You CAN'T be "accepted" via letter.
To get into the NAVY, which is near impossible because it is filled to capacity and people jockey for all the potential job positions, you have to got MEPs, Military Entrance Processing.
At Military Entrance Processing, you take the ASVAB to see what jobs you qualify for, then take a physical to make sure you can serve, and then you pray to god there's a job open you're qualified to get into.
Then you sign a non-binding contract, take a non-binding oath, and wait (usually a few months) until your ship date, at which you got back to MEPs, THEN sign the BINDING contract and take the BINDING oath. Then you're on a plane to Great Lakes for boot camp.
And you would never get accepted by the Navy even if they were empty and drafting. I think a decent handle on the english language may be an asset and "Why is there ever an art for this?" is far from proper language. I think what you were trying to say was "Why is there even art for this?" Even if we allow the ever/even typo, you can not have an art. You can have a work of art, a piece of art, and an art class, but not an art. Language Fail.
FUCK HEXNAZIS haha what if the FML staff posted this just to get everybody on the comments to fight i find the comments more funny also but awesome illustration. Love it.
You are so good^^ hahahaha I feel like you.
lol my friend accedently signed up for the navy.. sometimes if you fill out a information form for them.. you sign the aplication.. thats what he did
being in the navy could be a good experience, just avoid getting killed
Anyone else notice its listed under "love"??
wow.. everyone is hilarious on here.. how about you all just laugh at the fml and move on..
Haha! This is actually one of my favorite illustrations on FML. :D
aww come on peeps stop arguing. it a fucking artists interpretation! neither the fml or the drawing may be "correct" but WHO REALLY CARES. its there for the purpose of making people laugh and feel better about their own shitty lives. sheesh.
when did they start drafting again?
The artwork is pretty good, but whatever retard did it should recheck the outfits that the navy wears these days..god.
