I served for nearly a decade, and this drove me nutz. I use "guys" as a general non-gender specific greeting as well. F*** em. Adversely, there's no way to sidestep it when you say "what can I get for you ma'am" when it is a dude with long hair. Done that a few times too many. FML

Damn dirty dykes! They need to stop being bitchy about people mistaking them for being dudes. You're frickin butch! The only way you can tell is to probably kick them in the 'ol cooter and when you don't feel the *crunch*, that's when you know they're not guys. However, that won't get you a tip either. Eff them for filing a complaint! I work at a seafood/meat counter and say "Folks". Side steps the whole problem for both genders.

I don't tip no matter what, considering that I already paid for the meal. I see no reason why anyone should

You do realize that minimum wage for servers is $2.13, right? You willing to put up with whiny customers for that amount of money? Yall are cheap morons that obviously don't know much about the world of working.

Waiters and waitresses serve your Whitney ass, and are required to basically wait on you hand and foot. The least you can do is my be a bitch and tip them if they're decent-good servers. If they're horrible, are rude, forget about you, your food is cold, and take forever to get to you, don't tip. But the rest of the time, you should.

...Surely it should be the responsibility of the employer to pay them. Do you tip your mailman? The local librarian? I'm sure they get just as much abuse and put in just as much unappreciated effort. Servers' crappy payment system is not the responsibility of the customers to rectify... If you don't like the crappy pay, get a different job.

Everything, when you tip you're paying for a service. A good rule of thumb, always tip when they're bringing you the food, i.e. delivery, sit-down restaurants, etc. The tip is paying for them to bring it to you instead of getting it yourself. For example, if you get pizza take-out instead of delivery then you don't have to tip. If you want someone to get the pizza, drive through town and bring it TO you, then you pay them for their fucking time and effort.

I've worked for dominos for a long time, and while you might not think that it's necessary to tip for a carry out, if you think about it, the people working inside are the ones making your food, it's a nice way to say thank you and show appreciation.

Waiters get tips because they make less than minimum wage plus they deliberately work harder to show care for the customer. 1. You most likely make more than minimum wage 2. I should tip you for how you placed my sausage on the pizza in a very considerate manner before tossing it in the oven?

awww, i live in the philadelphia area and everything is always "you guys", "youse", and sometimes "y'all" no offense taken up here :D I went down to Texas for a week and said "you guys" to a bunch of girls and they were like "ummm, we're girls" it was weird....

I've had the same thing happen to me... and it was from people I thought were friends too. After saying that as a greeting for quite sometime, they just flipped out and we're all "YOU REALIZE WE ARE GIRLS RIGHT?!?!" I was like O.O yes... but I say that to everyone. If it bothered you that much why not say something before?
