Today, I was given my yearly evaluation as a cake decorator at Walmart. They said I "was easily the best decorator there" and "the bakery has definitely improved since I got there." In the same conversation they put "unsatisfactory" on my evaluation and denied my raise. FML
I agree, your life sucks 35 312
You deserved it 2 469

ruthlessrobin tells us more.

I went to the store manager who said "what do you expect? You don't make 22 cakes a day." That level is for mass production I am put on specialty orders 90% of the time. He didn't care

Walmart does not treat their employees correctly. You should argue with your superior and demand an explanation why you were denied a raise what you did

Don't worry OP, Its just Walmart. You surely deserve something better, like a job at a specialty bakery

Maybe they expect too much. Bake a cake for them with poison in it.

I guess OP's job isn't a piece of cake after all!

It's a piece of cake. Or easy as pie. You can't mix n match

Unsatisfactory is what your upper management needs. FYL OP

*meant to add this up there* I'm sure all your hard work will come and reward you.

I use to work the pantry in a 53k prototype. I was top 3 sales every day, but was told just as well that the shelves are empty come 430 and that I'm not doing my job... but I'm off at 330...

It sounds like the only reason they added "unsatisfactory" is because they didn't want to give you the raise op. Maybe have your management try and explain, and put into words, what is "unsatisfactory" about your work and try explaining to them that if all those positives have occurred, then surely a raise &, or, promotion makes sense. Explain to them how much the baking department would fail if you weren't there, proving that you're a necessity.

Stuff like this is why I hate working for Walmart. I still can't manage to find a job elsewhere, either.

That may not be such a good idea, even if OP deserved the raise. If you complain, they're much more likely to fire you than concede to your demand. After all, so far as they're concerned, you're a cog in a machine and easily replaced.

Wait, what? Maybe you make them well but didn't make enough? Sounds weird

Well, who should get a raise, if not the most skilled worker, someone who has improved the overall quality of the department?

If you that good. You deserve to be a much better place than Walmart

They work around my college classes so I'm still there.

Because why use logic in the workplace, right?

Walmart's logic is 'if we avoid paying our employees properly we'll make more money.' If you value profit over people, I guess that sounds logical.

That's how they save money and live better. Walmarx, always corporate greed.
