Today, I told someone about my degree in technical theatre with a concentration in lighting design. They looked at me and said, "You're paid $52,000 a year to turn lights on and off?" And technically, that's correct. FML
I agree, your life sucks 47 530

EXTREMELY technically that's correct. But whoever you were talking to is really ignorant.

Well, you can reply that you are paid $2,000 a year to turn lights on and of, and another $50,000 to know when and which lights to turn on and off.

I agree with #1. That person has to be rude, inconsiderate, and very ignorant. OP, your job is very important on stage, so don't let one person bring you down!

Honestly, who cares. That doesn't sound super difficult and you're being paid good money. let haters hate.

Eh..FYL indeed OP . Maybe you should've chose differently. but you could always go back to school

Then go work for Broadway shows and see who's laughing then. Lighting is difficult so don't take anyone's crap.

Sounds like the person you were talking to wasn't very BRIGHT

At least you're turning on something... I can't even turn on a woman :(

I don't see the FML here Sounds like a good, easy gig to me OP! :)

Guess what you're making 52 grand to do that. Be happy so many people do not have that type of paycheck. If you're unhappy then there is reason for concern otherwise keep turning the lights on and off and smile while doing so

Sounds great to me! I wouldn't complain at 52k a year to turn lights in and off!

That's because op turned the lights off....and that'll be 40$
