Today, I got pulled over and was given a ticket because my exhaust was too loud. I got this ticket while on my way to get said exhaust fixed. FML

On the bright side, they'll probably waive the ticket once they know you got it fixed. Still inconvenient though

Can't do much about it now, if you had explained the officer may have let you off. You know to get it fixed earlier next time.

What if OP just found out the day before? How would have OP gotten it fixed earlier if they just found out about it?

I don't know what getting it fixed earlier has to do with anything. OP could've literally just found out about it and immediately went to get it fixed and still got pulled over.

maybe they couldn't afford to get it fixed earlier. or didn't have the time to bring it in. or maybe they were bringing the car in as soon as the noise problem started. the fml doesn't say how long the exhaust was making noise.

Yes they can. Failure to maintain equipment or something like that. Covers missing mirrors and broken lights too.

Depending on area, it can be a noise ordinance thing. This literal exact thing happened to me a few years ago, except my appointment to get a new muffler was the next day. Still got the ticket.

fight it in court. if you can provide documentation that you got it fixed the same day, you should be able to win easily.

Did you explain to the cop that you were on your way to get it fixed? If not, YDI. If you did & he still wrote the ticket, so if you can fight ur saying that you explained it to them and price the court with the dated receipt. If you did explain it, hope it gets tossed out.

Fight it in court show the repair recite that's all you can do and hopefully it will be dropped
