Today, my minivan broke down on the side of the highway. I'm out of work and can't afford a cell phone, so I resorted to standing at the back of my van holding a "HELP" sign. About an hour went by, in which time I was passed by a cop car, a firetruck, and a car that said "Roadside Assistance." FML

Often times the police and roadside assistance trucks have policies involving not helping random people on the side of the road. For safety reasons. She may be a mass murderer for all they know.

I'm not sure where you're from but in Ohio staties and sheriff deputies stop for anyone on the side of the road. Even if they are just pulled over, to see if they need assistance.

I live in Oregon too, where are you from? I would have stopped for you! When I see a car accident or something is wrong I stop to help out. I've moved cars in the rain and called the cops for people before. Better luck next time:(
