Today, like every day since my wife was prescribed antibiotics for an infection, I had to hide one of the pills inside her food, because she'd apparently rather fall seriously ill than swallow them like an adult. FML

You would think with all our technology they would make all pills in gummy form by now. Problem solved

Well, I hope she isn't taking them at a different time and overdosing. If not, that's kind of childish (if she dislikes swallowing pills) unless she doesn't believe in medicine and whatnot.

Keep it up, what she doesn't know won't hurt her, it'll actually help her

Isn't that like the motto of the NSA?

I have to give you points for still finding a way to get her that medicine OP. Honestly I would've just given up.

You pat her head after too and say good girl?

is there any way she can get them as a suspension? Or something along that lines? I used to have a terrible problem swallowing tablets so I used to put them inside a bar of chocolate to eat. Worked well.

I would always ask if they came in capsules so I could open them and eat it with apple sauce

Many antibiotics do in fact come in suspension form, some even at strengths that are the same as those prescribed for adults, and if not, the doctors can do calculations to determine how to make it contain the quantity they want. That helps people with severe gag reflexes...but if the taste is the problem, it would linger longer if she had to swallow the liquid than the tablet/capsule. I prefer tablets to liquid, because of taste issue...but I only had to take antibiotics once, and (unless it's an antibiotic, or to treat some sickness or allergies) I don't take medicine, I try to just tough it out. Maybe she fears the side effects (though the taste and side effects aren't as bad as what they cure).

At least she's taking them, doesn't matter how imo

I can't swallow pills, either. Small esophagus. Have her ask her pharmacist if she can chew them, or get liquid (which insurance isn't as fond of). SOME antibiotics are okay to chew.. as are some other pills. (Again, that's why it's important to talk to a pharmacist... some pills are timed/delayed by entric coating and the chemicals in the pill can actually react in adverse ways with stomach acid). Btw...Chewing them tastes horrible, but it's better than not taking them at all. You get used to it.

I empathize if they're the gigantic pills because I'm HORRIBLE at swallowing pills. But maybe cut then in half? That's what I've done

its fairly typical for females to dislike swallowing

And now she'll go around saying "Those doctors don't know what they're talking about. They told me I needed these pills and I didn't take any of them and I'm just fine," and her idiot friends will believe her.

My dad is like that. He'd rather stay home and get seriously sick than go to a hospital.
