Today, I went to the mall to pick up the 1 carat diamond my husband recently purchased for me after 6 years of being together. My mom called, I answered my cell. Later, I realized that the baggie with the diamond was no longer in my pocket. It fell out when I answered my phone. FML

Lol! Despite all the mean comments, I thought I would clarify a few things. #1 I am completely aware that I deserved it. #2 The whole reason I had the diamond in a baggie in my pocket was that I had JUST picked it up from the store. We were not buying their solitaire mounting, because I already had another setting picked out at a different store. #3 My mom was babysitting my son, and had taken him on an hour long drive, so I was waiting at the mall for her to come back, she would call me when she got home. I went across the way to the Apple Store, and I was only there for about half an hour when she called me, and I took out my phone. #4 I don't own a handbag! I'm not a girly girl and I hate purses. The good news: I filed a police report to get the footage from the Apple Store. They caught the person who didn't turn it in. =P KARRRMA. They had already sold it, but my insurance is replacing it. Also, anyone who thinks this is something to get divorced over...you are ridiculous. =] My husband and I are very much in love, and we have a beautiful baby boy together. These are petty little things. Money comes and goes, and it is not worth fighting over.

It was in a baggie?? WTF kind of jewelry store puts a diamond in a baggie? Whatever.. YDI for being so careless.

You kept a 1 carat diamond in a baggie in your pocket along with your cell phone? Are you always this stupid, or only when you're transporting precious gemstones?

This is a "diamond in the rough" situation... (atomic bombs starts to fall) @#$% this. It's Friday here and I had no coffee.

Ah. Glad you received my summons, mercy. =)

Some people buy gems and cut them themselves.

"diamond in the rough" Airbourne awesome song reference

Uh, most jewelry stores do. If it's just a diamond and not set in a ring, bracelet, whatever, where else would they put it?

Yeah, wasn't thinking just a loose diamond. I was thinking it was a diamond ring or whatever. A loose diamond is kind of a weird anniversary gift, though. That's why I assumed. Oops.

If you can afford a diamond, you can afford a handbag. YDI.

...and why would you just be getting a loose diamond? Wouldn't you be, say, setting it in your wedding ring as an upgrade from a 1/2 carat stone? Or putting it in a necklace? If the *old* diamond was in the baggie, I believe it. My wedding ring has been in the family for four generations, and my husband and I replaced the center diamond when we got married-- it wasn't a great cut, and he said he wanted something on the ring to be a gift from him. I got the original diamond back in a baggie when I went to pick up my ring.

U have to be a dumbass to put something so small in a pocket you pull stuff out of. Idiot lol

Yeah because every normal person puts BIG things in their pockets and never takes them out...

Stone alone or ring, YDI for not paying attention.

Perspective people, perspective. You've got a loving husband of 6 years, a mother that calls you and you can afford to spend money on a 1 carat diamond. Still you say your life is ****** because you lost a piece of jewelry. Sigh. I wouldn't say you deserved to lose it, and I too would be annoyed if I did. But saying it makes your life "******" is a bit over the top, don't you think?

100% agree with this guy, people over use this site and it kinda makes for stupid/trivial/unworthy FML's.

Gee.. it almost sounds like a request for a 'Meh' button. Almost... I chose not to vote.

"Fmylife.com contains a daily dose of short anecdotes, based on a simple recipe: in a few sentences, users can tell everyone the shitty moment which ruined their day. These short stories must begin with "Today" and end with "FML". On top of being a huge release for the person telling their story, delightfully proving that "screw ups" happen to everybody every day, fmylife.com also aims to be funny for everyone involved, as well as a way to share your misfortunes with other unlucky individuals, bearing in mind that self deprecation and a sense of irony are essential!" This isn't a site for emo kids to whine about how much they hate their life, and thats certainly not what I deducted from this story. Comments however, used to me more interesting to read. Now its just kids who whine about how this or that isn't an fml, how this or that is fake, or how this or that could've been avoided.

My thoughts exactly 51...lol probably less than half a percent of the fmls on here would truly be experiences that completely **** up someones entire life, but as u pointed out, thats not what the site is about. And i certainly still enjoy reading most of them.
