Today, my card got declined at Subway, so I walked to the nearest cashpoint thirty minutes away to frantically figure out how much cash I had in my card. As I went to pull my card out of my purse, it slipped from my grip and fell into the sewer. The guy behind me snorted with laughter. FML

I'm sorry, OP! I hope you can get a new card quickly! I know my bank will give you an ATM card from the bank while your new credit/debit card comes in.

Could have just called the number on the back of the card.

Some people don't trust online banking apps.

It would have made more sense to call or to check online than to walk 30 minutes just to check a balance. Also OP, I highly recommend having more than one payment method. I usually carry 1 debit and 2 credit cards with me. So if one fails, I can use the other.

OP is probably older. My parents refuse to use an app to check their stuff. They're even afraid to buy stuff online because of fraud. OP most likely likes doing stuff the old fashioned way or does not have a smartphone. Who knows maybe OP ran out of data to check on their phone.

i would say the same, but people can be like my father. they like things old fashioned

Or maybe she cant afford a phone if she can't buy a subway how the hell is she going to buy a phone!!!

Fyl that's sad hopefully it all works out

My bank does the ATM card for free. So in this case, if it is the difference between paying and free, OP needs free if they can get it. Lol

Karma will get him. Let's hope the ATM/cashpoint was broke.

He did nothing wrong. In the same situation I probably would've done the same thing

You would laugh if someone would drop their card in a sewer? That's mean..

I'm sorry that happened. Why not just call the bank next time?

This could have been in the afternoon, Most banks aren't open very late.

I want to downvote you because I like to eat at Subway, but I'm giving you thumbs up instead because that was a good one :)

you walked 30 minutes for that...you were either really hungry or just stupid

Or really worried about their money missing.

Feels like this situation could've been easily avoided
