Today, my iPod came back from repair and still had a distorted sound. I've been through calls, meetings, and repairs with Apple since Christmas, and it still sounds like the half speaker in my old car. Then I found out the new Nano requires you to push the headphones plug in harder. FML

You'd think someone in the apple shop would have just told you: "oh hey you didn't really push the headphones in properly" when you came there to complain the first time. Or am I being naïve now?

in about 5 minutes I would have gotten over how dumb I was. I wouldn't post it online however...

Well... at least you realised in the end, right?

Or maybe someone told them =P YDI. Don't blame the iPod. Most people would check the earphones, THEN complain to Apple.

Agree with danny. I don't understand how people don't check everything they can first. I'm rather surprised that the Apple people didn't suggest that when OP first called.

wow this is not an fml. you were just too dumb to check that your ear phones are plugged in all the way.

my iPod did the same thing once so I took out the headphones and put them back in harder... problem solved

this isn't a FML. ur just a idiot

Well, at least you learned the appropriate life lesson of "If it doesn't work just push in harder". I have a feeling if you had trouble with a set of headphones this isn't the last fml we will see...

lol ha this isn't a fml why didn't you check that first?

I do everything in my power to try and fix things BEFORE I send it in. that way, I no somethings really wrong.

That was my grandmas problem too. YDI.

Same thing happened to me, but I was able to figure it out right away

congratulations. it took you 2-1/2 months to figure out what most people discover within a few days of having an iPod. I'm surprised you're able to wipe your own ass

I call fake as well. Someone with a brain would check the earphones first, and plus, Apple would most likely send/give you new headphones to try out. And it would NOT take 3 months for you and/or Apple to figure this out.

ydi for posting a FML about this.

@59 if he gets an ipod touch who knows what kind of problems he will have with that one...

YDI for getting an iPod. This proves just how smart iPod owners are.

It's ironic that I've got my Nano on while responding to this. This is an FML for Apple, because you wasted the time of their customer service reps for over two months now...instead of being smart enough to figure out something so simple right away.

@91 it wouldn't matter if he/she got a touch cuz the same thing could of happened.

push in harder for everything.

snagglepaste 0

That happened to my brother.

Not really. The harder you plug it in, the louder it gets. Not limited to iPods ;)

Alca, I belueve they mean it was a little stupid of OP not to check the headphone plug first.

I have a feeling #31 didn't get that one :-)

No, they just want more money.

MrsUchiha 0

Like all companies, they just want to charge you more.

Oops.. post that too soon. >_< Anyway, Microsoft charged $200 just for consulting fhem about having my Xbox fixed; I was better off buying a new one. lol And honestly, when someone calls for tech support, usually they go the worst possible scenario and work their way up.

BS. My xbox literally went up in flames around the 5th of December. I sent it to microsoft, and they replaced it free of charge by the 20th. I call that a good deal.

That's probably because you had warranty

All xboxs come with an automatic 3 year warrenty

for the people trashing apple's customer support here. OP said he MAILED the ipod in. If you don't have a physical apple store near you, Apple let's you mail in a product to be repaired. and they ONLY let you mail the ipod (no headphones). So no one at apple could have known the OP was retarded. Also, Apple customer support is 100% free (for the first year). Apple didn't make ANY money by having the OP ship the ipod... in fact, they lost money since Apple pays for shipping. Apple can be a corporate bastard at times.... but this was NOT one of those times... get your facts straight

i got a free iPod when mine went through the wash because it was not easily fixable. I took it to the store, they figured out what was wrong with it, and I walked out of the store with a new iPod. OP never said how much she paid so she could have only payed like $10 or something

my iPhone 4 was thrown from 50ft up. shattered the whole screen (still worked though). went to the Apple Store next day, walked out with a brand new one for free.

I had the same problem with my 1st mp3 player. If you didnt push in the headphones enough it would sound like you were underwater...However, I noticed what the problem was after a minute long investigation. YDI

LtHoward 0

LOL wow.. this is a definite YDI, that happened to me once or twice, but I didn't go and call customer service over it... I bet you feel kind of stupid now dont you OP?

FYL, OP, these new-styled spongy earbuds are ******* creepy. They jam all the way into your ear canal and they end up getting covered in earwax. And if a loud song comes on, good luck trying to take them out, those motherfuckers are sealed in there to destroy your eardrums.

This problem should have been solved quickly just by looking over your iPod. I don't think it would take a tech specialist to figure that out. That's probably why no one asked; they would think it's safe to assume that if you're asking for their help then it's more complicated than pushing it in further.
