I'm a plumber so let me offer some advice.
rule of thumb states that excess food needs to be disposed of in the garbage. the purpose of your disposal is for small scrap meal left on the plate that wouldn't come off by scraping the plate over the garbage can. examples: rice pieces, a few noodles, or that little bit of lettuce from your salad. not an entire rubbermaid container of stroganoff. PS the only thing that is good for your disposal is ice. it sharpens the blades and doesn't clog up. NO EGGSHELLS OR POTATO SKINS. just FYI
