Today, I was washing my hair in the shower when the water went ice cold. It's 20 degrees outside and we have soft water which takes a longer time to wash away soap. FML

that's when u should step out if the shower and rinse ur hair in the sink

Kids and their hot water and reverse osmosis filters. You don't know how lucky you have it. Back when I was a kid we bathed in rocks, wiped our rears with broken glass and walked to school (uphill both ways) barefoot through a briar patch.

I think the OP was more concerned about certain other parts of his body...

Hate it when that happens, but yeah, use the sink and a washcloth.

BAWWWWW COLD WATER OMG BAWWWW suck it up son

fail for using f instead of degrees celcius

Technically since it is still liquid it's not "ice cold", but just liquid cold. (If that makes any sense)

Technically water can "as cold as ice" without actually being frozen. So in that sense, ice cold is fine.

Running water can be colder than the freezing point of water.

More like a hyperbole. Hopefully didn't butcher the spelling too bad :S

only if the ambient pressure is greater than the standard pressure of one bar, at which the standard freezing point of water is 32F. Supercooled (being below the freezing point at standard pressure) water is possible, but the slightest change in it, ie, bumping it, moving it, will cause the water to immediately and instantaneously crystallize and "crash out."

STFU ALL OF U CORRECTING PEOPLE'S SPELLING AND GRAMMATICAL SHIT. SO ******* stupid noooo one in the ******* world cares, aslong as u get what the person is trying to say.

u notice all u ppl r nerds with no lives

Same here! Ours ll last 12 minutes then just turn ice cold! Our electric bills are higher cause I have to dry towels to not be so cold after showering!!!

@5, or you could suck it up and stop wasting your parents money.

Huh. Odd. Alabama doesn't really get that cold. I lived there all my life and it never really got under 30. That does suck though.

What are you talking about? I live in the northern part of Alabama and 2 weeks ago it was 11-19 degrees that whole week.

betseyville 6

I'm in the metro area and it was 15 degrees all last week. It gets under 30 a lot during the winter...

It couldn't have changed that much. I've only been gone a few months. xDD Maybe where I lived (Montevallo) was a freak of nature because to be honest it was never cold, and when it was cold people would complain when in reality it was around like... 40 degrees outside. And if it DID get under 30 it would be way higher in temperature pretty much the next day. Now I live in New Hampshire and it gets in the negatives... THATS what I consider cold now.

wow. suck it up. I live in canada. it gets to -40 through most of january and feburary. 20 fahrenheit is tshirt weather.

Agreed Gibby. We don't break out the winter coats until -10 degrees.

Hard water makes it hard to wash out soap.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I KNOW soft water is better for lathering and most people would rather have soft water in their houses, and I believe soft water in general is better for washing.

Soft water is the most epic thing in nature. We just got a better water purifier not too long ago and washing things has never been easier. 'Sides, I like to lather things up and let them become super bubbly. OP, have blessed to have soft water. So incredibly blessed.

stupid divalent ions killing my micelles...

Oh yeah, your life is SO ******. anyone remember when stories actually included things to be really upset about, or laugh really hard at? And now, ones get posted about having to spend a little more time washing yourself...

aw give it a rest, will you? honestly, this is almost as annoying as all the "omfg first?!!!!!"s.

Notice how I was one of the people who didn't freak out cuz I was the first comment

20 degrees? I assume you mean Fahrenheit, cause where I come from, 20*C counts as hot

Well considering it says United States (Alabama), it'd be safe to assume its Fahrenheit, and they said it was ice cold.

ya, but alot of americans dont have balls, so 20*C is 'ice cold' to them. even though 20*F is as cold as ice, thats still tshirt weather.

In Nebraska it isn't cold until the temperatures fall below 0 and you throw in a nice cold wind blowing at about 30mph or more.

Hey Gibby I'm American and 20F is not "ice cold" so go **** yourself. Plus if we're being technical 20F is ice cold.

so... how is an FML? you had to rinse off in a cold shower. it happens. a lot. if something like this is the low point in your life, you shouldn't even be on this site.
