It's the weekend, baby!

By tealsoda - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, after a friend convinced me to throw a big party, inviting everyone to come, and after fixing a ton of party food, I sat around and waited for my guests to arrive. No one came. FML

Wow. Did you forget to invite people or something? I'm surprised that your one friend who suggested it didn't come. They must have known that no one liked you and wanted to see if you'd do it and look dumb. My suggestion, get new friends. Like some that know how to RSVP!

Well, start eating, we can't let any food go to waste.

Yeah, did you actually invite anyone? or just 'fix a ton of party food and sit and wait for people to arrive.' Because that's not how parties work. People actually need to know there's a party. It's essential to the party's success.

One of my friends did this once. It was so funny, but I also did feel a little bad. But I WAS in LA at the time.

Whatever liar. What you are trying to tell us is that you did this to your friend a few days ago and that this is most likely her. You jerk :P

YDI for not making sure everyone RSVP'd

First? Fake!!! This is the oldest, hackneyed "poor me" situational irony you can find on TV. Real original!

First of all fail? Second of all, just because its been done on tv doesn't mean it can't happen. Where do you think producers got the idea? That's right, real life.

Sitcoms generally take overexagerrated REAL LIFE situations and turn them into hillarious over the top adventures in where the character learns a valuble lesson.

This happened to me on my birthday. I was in a new city with my boyfriend and the only people I knew were classmates and co-workers. He and I ate a lot that day.

You spelled balloon wrong sugar-pie. And yeah, it's possible to get stood up by "everyone". "Everyone" could be everyone in the office - say maybe 15 - 20 people. Maybe they were only work-friendly and uncomfortable about coming to OP's place. Maybe they didn't really know her and yeah, maybe they didn't like her. Maybe some of them were busy. But it was really shitty of Friend not to show up or RSVP. Also, someone in the "everyone" group could have said, "I'm sorry, I have plans" or "I'm really not comfortable with the idea".

#24 Agree. I do wonder why the 'friend' suggested the idea in the first place. I'm guessing some weird idea for a joke...

There are starving kids in third world countries who would have come to your party. Now you stop whining and eat that food so it doesn't go to waste, you show those kids that you care!

It's so sad that she wanted to give all her friends finger sandwiches, but they just gave her the finger. OP: You ought to YouTube yourself stuffing your face with all that food. Oddly enough, those third-world kids can't find a crust of bread to eat, but they can always locate Internet cafes where they can watch obese Americans make asses of themselves.
