Today, I got my giant Game of Thrones tattoo finished. Despite the fact that I had spelt it out for him, the artist wrote 'You no nothing John Snow'. It's the focal part of the tattoo. FML

Why didn't you inspect the tattoo after some time? Big tattoos take their time, and you should always check something as permanent as a tattoo before it's finished. And really, words are so error prone...

This. We have people initial the final drawing as proof they looked over it so this doesn't happen.

My artist prints stencils from the final drawing. I've never let someone free hand on me and I don't think I ever would.

Unless the artist free handed it, which they shouldn't have, you should have seen a stencil on your body, and fixed the spelling. If you didn't double check, or just watched them spell it wrong, YDI. For a cover up, turn it into a crow, or something Black from the Night's watch, then get the text again around it. Probably all at a different shop.

Your tattoo artist is kind of like my last math teacher. You tell them how you did it, yet they did it their own way anyway. And their own way is always the bad way. This tattoo was their bad way. Is there a refund that you could get or something? This cannot go unpunished to the artist. Edit: There are two related Game of Thrones-related FMLs in a row. It truly is the greatest show on Earth right now.

^because he's comparing this to a maths teacher. They want you to do it their way because they're teaching you the fundamentals so you can learn. If I tell you to use the quadratic equation and you factor it regularly instead, you can bet I'll take off points. I'm trying to teach you the quadratic formula, not how to factor, which you already know how to do. ODE would be a better analogy, but not many go that far. It's always in mathematics that people are entitled little *****, smh.

If they noticed it before they left the tattoo place (and they should have as the tattoo artists lets you see it before they bandage it up), there would be no need for a refund. You don't pay for the tattoo before it's done. They should have let the artist know that it wasn't right and that they (the customer) did multiple things on their part to ensure the spelling was correct and, seeing as they still messed up, the artist shouldn't be making them pay for the tattoo. If they didn't notice right away and only noticed after they left, then, yeah, definitely go back and get a refund.

Depends on if a) You finished the tattoo before he finished the TV show. b) You got the tattoo five years ago and have only been together for two years.
