Today, I had my first driving test. The instructor turned out to be the kind of twit who made me do the full 60-minute test, only to tell me afterwards that he was failing me for the only mistake I made less than 2 minutes after the test started. Time wasting tit. FML

Actually, I've had this happen too, while doing my test. I believe they're meant to make you do the whole test for the sake of experience with the different sections, like independent driving, so you're more prepared next time.

In the UK they have to make you take the whole test, any official would tell you the same.

I have the same question as you, #49. Granted, I do live in the States, but my test took maybe 20 minutes at most. And that's including the vehicle inspection/showing your hand signals/random questions about the vehicle bit.

I don't think so. I failed my first test because I bumped the curb pulling out of the parking spot, 45 second into the test. She immediately told me to park because it was over.

This is spot on! Just because you messed up one thing doesn't mean he shouldn't assess you for other things that are required to independently operate a car! It's a good sign that the rest is okay, good luck with your next attempt!

Those guys can be awful. Mine failed me when I swerved to avoid upcoming car. I saved the bastard's life but apperantly I should have just stopped and let them hit me

I'm from Australia and we have a rule if you get hit on a test, even if it's not your fault, you fail the test.

In that situation you would have failed no matter what, at least here in Canada. Swerving is never a good idea, but getting hit is an automatic fail.

Honestly, I wouldn't call it a waste of time. Sure it sucks, but you now have a little bit of extra driving experience. Might come in handy for your second time.

Actually in the uk they have to take you for the whole time, even if you fail as soon as you get in the car you have to have the full time :/ sucks I know but it's not his gault
