Babyface

By all tweened out - 20/02/2015 20:00 - Canada

Today, I drove alone for the first time since I passed my test. I kept getting weird looks from other drivers and got pulled over by a cop. He said I was clearly underage and was sure my license was fake. Almost half an hour later, he finally let me go. I hate having a baby-face. FML

Well congratulations! At least you passed your test :)

Just make sure to have your license on you at all times and it's all gravy baby. Besides having a baby face will come in handy later in life.

That cop was very unprofessional. Don't licenses, IDs and passports have that eagle thing that's hard to forge? Or is that just passports. In any case, that sucks. Looking young isn't always good.

There are lots of people out there who use fake identifications. How can you say the cop was unprofessional?! He probably got a call from a concerned driver and was professional enough to go check it out. It's his job, after all.

I really wish there was some way to have unforgable IDs. I'd say show a birth certificate, but he could've called it fake too. Also, I see where you're going with him not being unprofessional, I didn't think of it like that.

If the cop said the OP was "clearly underage" and couldn't tell if his license was fake? then yes, he was unprofessional. As a bartender, I've seen some fake IDs. The newest trick is using an older person's ID that looks similar to you. I've busted so many people trying to pass themselves off as their friend. Asking them a few questions like, "quick, what's your address?" is always fun!

We don't have eagles. depending where you live in Canada there are designs that are tricky to forge

I think, 28, that 4 is referring to the hologram in the shape of our nation's seal, which is a bald eagle holding arrows in one claw and an olive branch in another. I also used to think that a hologram on an ID was pretty solid proof that an ID was genuine back when I was a cashier who sold cigarettes, but then I stopped into a liquor store one day and saw that they had some confiscated fake IDs on display, and some of them has holograms! Boy, did I feel silly, and wondered how many fake IDs had gotten by me.

Most fake id's are missing watermarks and microsecurity stamps. Those things are incredibly difficult to Forge, but most people don't know to look for them. To get one properly forged that looks damn near real would be thousands, and that is not worth it to an underage driver.

Ironically, I think that if OP had been carrying around their birth certificate that would have made the cop even more suspicious. Not a lot of people carry those around, even less teenagers.

It'll work to your advantage when you're older :)

Almost everyone has a baby face at 16... That'll happen when you haven't gotten through puberty.

I'm pretty sure puberty gets rid of your baby face at 12. Besides, isn't 16 near the end of puberty. It definitely would've been gone by then.

I didn't start puberty until about 15/16 myself. I was a late bloomer as they say.

18, Puberty typically occurs between the ages of ten and seventeen and where a person starts within that depends on environmental factors and genetics. Some people finish around sixteen. Others, don't start puberty until they're sixteen. There's a very good chance that OP is just one of us late bloomers.

Sorry 18, but puberty of the body has very little to do with the structure of the face if it's small and youthful looking, or the other way round, broader and mature-looking. Also, I finished puberty (at least, my body stopped visibly changing) at 15, and now at 22 people think I AM 15.

I had kind of two puberties. Sex drive kicked in at 10, etc. but had another weird MASSIVE muscle growth spurt in my late teens long after everything else. And I was always a nonathletic nerd just with a large lean frame.

As I said in another comment, at 16 I was passing for being in my 30s. I hate being the exception. Long hair, specific clothing styles, cartoonish glasses frames, and other things are the only reason I look my age now.

At least when you're old you'll still look young!

Once you hit 40, there will be a serious drop off and all of a sudden you'll look 75 and people will be trying to put you in a home

I kind of feel more sorry for you than the OP.

It sucks now but I'm sure you'll appreciate your baby face in the future. Me, on the other hand, have been asked if I was 27... and I'm 17. In the meanwhile, try to avoid situations like this using sunglasses and stylish professional jackets that make you look older :) Good luck OP!

Are you sure you're 17? I think you're lying...

Yes, I'm pretty sure I know how old I am.
