Been around the world and I, I, I, I can't find my luggage

By 1942ford - 23/07/2013 02:18 - United States - Lynnwood

Today, I called an airline to try to locate a bag I left on a flight. When I told the phone rep which airport I flew into, he asked me what city it was in. He paused after I told him, then asked me what state Seattle is in. I don't think I'll be getting my bag back. FML

That rep has reached a new level of stupid I've never heard of

Perhaps plane stupid? It would literally escalate quickly.

Someone isn't stupid just because he doesn't know random trivia, or he's a little weak in geography. However, he certainly isn't cut out for this job specifically :P

You mean "edumacation" but either way, if I was the Op I wouldn't give up that easily. Those are his belongings and has the right to get them back no matter what.!

Yes they are actually in this case, if you work for an airline you should have some smarts in geography, or at least know cities and States.

Isn't it a little ironic that you're correcting the word "edumacation"?

There are those who are edmacated and unmjacated. Op is edmacated. The other one is unmjacated

That's when you ask to speak to someone in America

OP doesn't say if the flight was from America or another place. In ontario, american History isnt taught until grade 11 which is optional. So people who don't know what cities or states are what in the USA doesn't make them stupid.

Ohio may be different, but I learned American history in 5th grade. Now mind you as a 5th grader, I didn't really care about learning about history, and we only got to the end of the Revolutionary War as well. In 8th grade we learned again American history and went past the Reconstruction Era. So California may have a different curriculum than Ohio.

Maybe try to call again and ask for a different person? Or to speak to their supervisor?

You sure? I swear it's in Australia

Yes, #3 is being very sarcastic! But you'd be surprised that there are a lot of Americans that don't know the difference between Washington, D.C. and Washington State. :P

That's because you guys have no imagination to name states and cities :)

yeah. I'm from Washington. I live in Atlanta. so I get asked what state I'm from and immediately I get D.C. as a response. I'm really getting tired of saying that's not a state.

38- oh? What makes your names so much better? Please, do tell, so we can all gaze into your perfect self.

Yes, that was sarcasm. I live 10 minutes away from Seattle.

RedPillSucks 31

@38 Really? W/ 50 states and gagillions of cities, there are going to be similarities. Especially with cities named after historical figures (Fayetteville, NC, Ak, etc) or named after regions in England or where-ever some of the regional settlers were from.

no, its in sicaly! get yo facts straight!

Why would they hire someone who doesn't know what they're doing?

Maybe they outsourced their phone hotline to non-native English-speaking talent... (i think you know what i mean!)

Actually, the chances are that if they did, he probably would have known..

Good to know that the unknowledgable are employed... I'm losing so much hope.

Just remember, when dealing with people like this, or the guy at McDonalds who is stumped by the concept of a big Mac meal with no pickles, those were the best applicants they got. Sad isn't it?

Good news: There are jobs for the poorly educated. Bad news: You have to deal with one. Best of luck with that bag.
