Today, I finally addressed why my boyfriend started calling me "love bug" since we haven't used pet names in the entirety of our 2 year relationship. His response? "because I love you but you bug the shit out of me. It seemed appropriate." FML

Before you act on the 'you need a new boyfriend' comments, mayhaps it is wise asking him what it exactly is that bugs him. This way you might work something out! Good luck OP!

Show it anyway

They probably think that relationships are thing where the higher the number you've had, the better you are at them.

You need to never give relationship advice, you haven't had one so don't act like you know what you're talking about.

At least there is some thought to it and not a generic pet name.

that's mind of a commonish nickname. I use it lol

This is when you start calling him baby

It was clearly a joke, in case some of you missed it.

Ah the classic down vote defense...it was a joke works damn near as well as it's just a prank brah.

I accidentally hit dislike ._. I hate that it doesn't let you change it .-. (never mind I guess my reply made it wanna give me a second try d:)

I also thought it was cute and actually pretty clever. I think most people in a relationship get on each others nerves sometimes. If it's really that big of a worry to OP, ask what it is that bugs him so much.

Just think of the kind of innovation and creative thinking he could bring to the table when naming children. "Junebaby. Because it's due in June and will hopefully be born as a baby. Lovebug Jr. In case it takes after you. Tenfingers. I've expanded on the things-we-hope-our-child-will-be-born-with format for this one."

I thought it might have been from the pubic lice, aka, crabs. Didn't see that one coming!

Pubic lice isn't that common. Also, they were together for two years without him calling her love bug. If your partner just one day caught crabs you probably would want to call them out of their name but it likely wouldn't be a pet name.

I have to agree I think it's cute and hilarious. If you interact with someone often, you're going to bug them at times. It's inevitable. The important part is he loves you throughout it.

Well he still loves you and also that's a pretty funny nickname.
