I mean, it's not that you were serious. And for #2 who said it's creepy, it's honestly not, just a mistake. I usually reply with "hey love" when a female friend say hi to me, and when a male friend did, I slipped up & said the same thing. Sometimes your mind is just not in the right place/ you're not conscious of your reaction.

Sometimes you do something enough times that it becomes a habit. I hold my boyfriend's hand wherever we go and so when I went to the mall with my dad I grabbed his hand and he gave me funny look before I realized what I was doing.

Reminds me of my two male teachers in high school. One of them came into the other ones classroom to ask a quick question, left and said "Thanks, honey." The best part? The other one also absentmindedly responded with, "You're welcome, sweetie." The classroom was quick to point out what happened and he was more than a bit embarrassed haha
