Today, for our anniversary, I had made a small treasure hunt for my boyfriend, tying roses with notes of poetry to lampposts across campus to lead him to where we would have a romantic dinner. He couldn't find it because people had stolen the roses, or simply ripped them to pieces and thrown them away. FML

It's the thought that counts

yeah, but what was she thinking? I assume that this is exactly what would happen at my campus. though it's romantic, it's a bit worldly innocent

I know! It's so wrong that people can't just leave stuff like that alone. Just mind your own business, why do you have to ruin such a thoughtful, romantic idea? Sheesh.

In college, whatever isn't nailed to the ground or monitored by CCTV is bound to disappear.

it was a cute idea, shame it didn't work out.....

Yeah, I've tried this before and the same thing happened to me. OP, maybe try and hide the clues around the house and make the last clue lead him somewhere outside of the house. Or you can give the clue to a friend or cashier and ask them to hold onto it so no one steals it

What some friends of mine did was they had random friends text a girl with instructions at a certain time. Ya.. I was surprised when they told me to send her to Taco Bell, but can you think of a more romantic place for high schoolers on a budget?

What a neat surprise OP. Sorry people had to ruin it for you

Breadcrumbs might work, but then small children might arrive instead. Just make sure to sear them to keep the juices inside.

#6 "Hi! Umm... I would like one ginger with a side of barbecue sauce!" *turns to passenger* "Hitler, what would you like?" "I'll have one Jewish child! I like them cooked thoroughly!" *stares at Hitler, tired of his shit* "Ya, make that two gingers! Yes I would like barbecue sauce for both!" *looks at Hitler* "You are one relentless asshole, you know that?"

Sorry OP, at least you were thoughtful! Hope the nice dinner worked out anyway.

Sorry OP, sounds like people don't appreciate other people's thoughtfulness. Best of luck.

I agree with #1. I'd appreciate the gesture regardless. Next time you do something like this, text him hints or email them. Maybe it'd be easier and something like this might not happen.
