Today, despite having a cold, I decided to surprise my husband by baking a batch of brownies. I was ready to stick the pan in the oven, when I smelled something burning. My husband forgot to tell me he was using the oven to dry tools. Some of the plastic components melted and dripped all over. FML

Who tf uses a oven to dry tools that's just ******* retarded

And this is why you NEVER put things/store things in the oven that aren't FOOD or actually are meant to go in there. This isn't your fault, no one would expect there to be tools in the oven. If he wanted them dried, dry them in the sun outside, or on a towel in front of a window inside.

If I had to take a guess, he probably didn't have the oven on. It isn't uncommon for people to dry things out (or get and keep them at a certain warmer-than-room temperature) by putting them in the oven, closing it, And turning on just the light. Tends to keep it between 80*-110* depending on the lightbulb kind. That said, he should have known to put a note on the stove or tell her, if the tools are that important. It's also considered smart to check if an oven has anything in it before turning it on. So.. Both parties are at fault here, IMO.

She's not at fault... Tools don't belong in the oven. How could she have expected tools to be in a device for cooking? It's his own fault they melted because he didn't leave a note. I don't know anyone who checks to make sure there's nothing in the oven before preheating.

People keep all kinds of things in the oven- and if you live with other people, it's a good idea to check inside of ANYTHING before you turn it on, in case they put something in it and forgot about it. Or, in the case of small children- in case they put something in it and are waiting for you to turn it on "to see what happens."

you know this sucks, however I am a firm believer that if you don't live alone you always check the oven before turning it on.
