Maternal monitoring

Today, I learned the hard way that my parents leave the baby monitor in my room when my boyfriend stays over. FML

that is extra creepy. and by the sounds of it.. ha ha. awkward on both parts. no thanks

I’m curious to how old you are. If you’re over 18 this is beyond a creepy move and they should respect your privacy. If you are under 18 why the hell are they letting your boyfriend over while they disrespect your privacy?

Not cool! They have no right to do that at all

yes they do! it's their house. and by the sounds of it op is a kid. so yes, they have all the right in the world.

No, it's illegal in Victoria (where OP is) to monitor or or record video/audio of private spaces (e.g. bathroom, bedrooms) unless you're a party to what is being recorded/monitored.

Their house, their rules. Still a dick move though.

No not their house their rules. That would be of they told everyone they're surveiling them. This is simply a breach of privacy and absolutely not ok.

I'm trying to think of an easy way to learn this. And failing. Asking you to respect a "no screwing in our house" rule is one thing. Enforcing it with a secret baby-monitor (which incidentally is probably open to anyone with a similar monitor to listen in) is something totally different.

Would parents prefer if their kids got caught doing out in public or something? I don't get it.

I don't even understand why they're letting your boyfriend stay over. ydi

OK, let me get this straight: Your parents let your boyfriend stay over but they expect you not to have sex with him? wtf?

I beilieve that's actually a typical etiquette rule.
