Today, I came home to find my entire action figure collection was gone. My parents told me I am too old for toys, so they opened all of the packages and donated them to Goodwill. I had an original Boba Fett, and my entire collection was worth more than twenty thousand dollars. FML

First he wasn't going to ever donate them. They are action figures that are worth alot of money in their original packaging. My guess was he was keeping them for years, so in another few more years they would be worth alot more. He could sell one for like 20k. Why would you donate a figure thats worth 20k thats utter stupidity. Especially it going to kids.

I don't think you read my comment. I asked why "they", his parents, would open all of the boxes if they planned to turn around and donate them. Why would they not just donate them in their original boxes.

Sam Siggers you misunderstood the question. Why would THE PARENTS go through the trouble of opening the packages when they were just going to donate the toys, which is what the FML says they did. Basically why, if they were simply donating, wouldn't they just give over the packaged toys? Unless of course they were totally aware of what they were doing and wanted to destroy they value while ensuring their child would never get money for "doing nothing" as some people say about collecting and selling things.

What question did i misunderstood? Cause the fml isnt a question, its a statement. Unless you or someone asked me something or the op a question but i dont remember it or see it. The fml was about him losing 20 grand worth of action figures. Who would actually care about them going through the trouble of opening them to donate them when they are worth alot more. Sorry but the op isnt thinking, why did they open them just to donate them. they are thinking why the **** are my parents so stupid they have to touch my stuff and get rid of it. He is literally down 20k, id be pissed about the loaing the action figures rather then them taking the time to open them to donate them. Like shit they aint very hard to open up at all, wouldnt of taken them long and maybe they were thinking young children, plastic.. dont eant kids cutting themselves or whatever with it

You do know that collectibles like that are cheap when you buy them and accumulate value over the years, right? Boba Fett figures didn't cost 20 grand in the 70s. Odds are that collection cost a kid their allowance money over the years and now is valuable enough for that adult to buy a house.

That's theft. Depending on how good a relationship you'd like to have with your parents I'd be showing your parents the value of the toys they just gave away and demanding they pay back every cent of their worth if they don't want to get hit with charges of felony grand larceny.
