Today, I went to a restaurant and only brought $14 with me to eat. I ordered and ate my meal, then went to the counter to pay for it. I threw $2 into the tip jar then got my bill. My bill was $13.86. I had to reach into the tip jar and take my $2 back so I could pay for my meal. FML

that made no sense, i tip AFTER i paid and usually i stick it on a card, because i rarely carry cash and if if it is fast food, i just leave the change if it's not a lot and you should always tip everywhere, i'd hate to tell you how much certain restaraunts pay people, and i can promise you it's less than min wage. ask your server next time at a restaraunt how much they make an hr, it's like $2 and change...

Why should you tip at every restaurant you go to? I'm not going to tip at McDonald's or a place similar to that. Plus, minimum wage, at least in Illinois, is like $5.25 an hour.

Really? I know a lot of waitresses and they all get paid around $5.00. Even the delivery drivers where I work make $5.50 an hour. I don't know. I don't really pay much attention since I'm not a waitress. lol

ya in michigan waiters/waitresses only have to be paid $2.85/hour and anywhere else if your under 18 they don't have to pay minimum wage. min wage here is $7.40 and i was 17 when i started working at the job i'm at now made $6/hr until i turned 18.

You have obviously never worked as a waiter before...Bottom line is, if you don't have enough money to tip well at a restaurant, you DON'T eat there. Tips are what waiters live off of...
