Today, my overly-attached 14-year-old cat wanted attention while I was in a heated Skype argument with my girlfriend. Worked up from the fight, I raised my voice and said, "Not now, go away!" He ran to his little bed, had a heart attack and died. I was a complete dick to my cat in his last moments. FML

Today, despite me not liking cats, which my wife knew, she got a cat anyway. Her cat went for a walk outside and was hit by a car. I rushed outside to help the cat but found she was already dead, and the culprit had driven away. When my wife found out that her cat was dead, she thought I'd killed her. FML

Today, my cat was incessantly meowing trying to get me to wake up and feed him. Because it was 6 a.m., and I'd hardly slept at all last night, my brain decided that the best solution to get him to shut up would be to hug him. The result was a normally docile and lazy cat giving me a nasty scratch next to my left eye. FML

Today, I was woken up by my cat, who normally doesn't bother me in the morning, meowing desperately and trying to get me to wake up. Fearing that something was very wrong, I jumped out of bed. He gestured for me to follow him, so I did. I followed him all the way to the kitchen, where he proceeded to puke. FML

It's not OP's fault. We all occasionally push our pets away when they're being annoying. I have a cat that won't leave me alone sometimes.

Terribly sorry for your loss. I understand that occasionally we go through situations in our lives where we don't wish to be bothered by people or animals. I don't feel you deserved to lose your cat because of it, and I hope you are able to feel better soon. :(

I started crying after I read this, my cat is at a very old age, whenever I think about her leaving just breaks my heart. I'm very sorry you had to find that was your cats meowing, calling for help or just to say goodbye.
