Today, I ignored my cat's incessant meowing, and pushed him away every time he wanted to be petted. The next time I walked downstairs I found him dead. FML

Today, my overly-attached 14-year-old cat wanted attention while I was in a heated Skype argument with my girlfriend. Worked up from the fight, I raised my voice and said, "Not now, go away!" He ran to his little bed, had a heart attack and died. I was a complete dick to my cat in his last moments. FML

Today, despite me not liking cats, which my wife knew, she got a cat anyway. Her cat went for a walk outside and was hit by a car. I rushed outside to help the cat but found she was already dead, and the culprit had driven away. When my wife found out that her cat was dead, she thought I'd killed her. FML

Today, my cat was incessantly meowing trying to get me to wake up and feed him. Because it was 6 a.m., and I'd hardly slept at all last night, my brain decided that the best solution to get him to shut up would be to hug him. The result was a normally docile and lazy cat giving me a nasty scratch next to my left eye. FML

Today, I was woken up by my cat, who normally doesn't bother me in the morning, meowing desperately and trying to get me to wake up. Fearing that something was very wrong, I jumped out of bed. He gestured for me to follow him, so I did. I followed him all the way to the kitchen, where he proceeded to puke. FML

Learn to read your pets! Mine had a bone abscess, and him not play bowing and rolling over when I walked in was odd for him! I noticed his foot by his not usual reaction.

If there had been something wrong with the cat, you would've known. I had a cat for 16 years or so and it became very obvious when he became ill. We took him to the vet one day to get him checked out and were told he could either be kept living a very unpleasant life or we could put him to sleep. I got up early the next day before having to go to work to be with him in his final moments. As hard as it was, I was able to pet him and show him some love before putting him to sleep. Trust me, it's a very difficult thing to experience and maybe having the cat not die before your eyes would be easier.
