Today, I ignored my cat's incessant meowing, and pushed him away every time he wanted to be petted. The next time I walked downstairs I found him dead. FML

Today, my overly-attached 14-year-old cat wanted attention while I was in a heated Skype argument with my girlfriend. Worked up from the fight, I raised my voice and said, "Not now, go away!" He ran to his little bed, had a heart attack and died. I was a complete dick to my cat in his last moments. FML

Today, despite me not liking cats, which my wife knew, she got a cat anyway. Her cat went for a walk outside and was hit by a car. I rushed outside to help the cat but found she was already dead, and the culprit had driven away. When my wife found out that her cat was dead, she thought I'd killed her. FML

Today, my cat was incessantly meowing trying to get me to wake up and feed him. Because it was 6 a.m., and I'd hardly slept at all last night, my brain decided that the best solution to get him to shut up would be to hug him. The result was a normally docile and lazy cat giving me a nasty scratch next to my left eye. FML

Today, I was woken up by my cat, who normally doesn't bother me in the morning, meowing desperately and trying to get me to wake up. Fearing that something was very wrong, I jumped out of bed. He gestured for me to follow him, so I did. I followed him all the way to the kitchen, where he proceeded to puke. FML

Goodness, people, it's not like she thought: "Hmm, I'm going to go in the other room and ignore my cat so it can die." A numerous amount of things could've happened, I don't know much about cats, but maybe the cat was elderly? I do know that some animals run off away from their home to die, so maybe it wanted out. If the cat has been abused at all, I doubt it would've wanted the OP's attention. The same thing would've happened if she had been at work or something, you can't just forget your life as a functional human with priorities and stay by your cat every second of every day for fear it may die. With that said, OP get another cat, maybe even a kitten and name it honor of the deceased one. I think you're a great cat owner.

Ummmm..... small question.... why the **** does she desrve this?? She just didn't feel like petting her cat!! If something was as wrong as you people are making it out to be, I'm sure she would've noticed.

Cats have many, many meows. There's the playful, bored, happy, upset, hungry, thirsty etc. If the cat was trying to force OP to pay attention, it was clearly in distress and OP should have been able to understand the different meows. I have a 5 month old kitten, and I already know his different meows. Usually an owner can pick up on the different meows over time. There is the chance it was a simple, happy meow as a final thank you from the kitty before it left... but, usually an owner should pay attention to the different meows.
