Today, I came home to find a note on my door from the neighbor saying, "I saw a coyote eat your dog, but was afraid it was rabid." FML

Omg, I'm so sorry OP. I don't hear things like this everyday :( if you get another dog you should keep it inside except for when you walk it.

Sorry to hear that how big was your dog /:-I

Let's get this straight...coyotes don't live just in certain states...pretty much anywhere you go coyotes can live. They're just afraid of people so that's why you don't normally see them

Rabid or not, sorry but I wouldn't have been able to save your dog from a wild animal. I just hope that your neighbor isn't lying to you, he could have eaten your dog.

Coyotes scare easy, but come backe I greater numbers. Now in to the serious comment, but coyotes do scare easily. All your dumb ass neighbor had to do was through a few rocks and mad some noise. It would have ran away. Even if it had some kind of sickness and turned on them.they could have ran back inside before he got to them. And coyotes tend to be small it does not take much.

Actually no, neighbor was probably right that it was rabid. Coyotes very rarely attack dogs unless they are starving or rabid. If neighbor suspected rabies they should of shot it and put the poor thing out of its misery. Rabies is a horrible way to die. They basically dehydrate and suffocate as their brain stops working. It's the one case I condone killing an animal and not using all parts of it. I'd probably still skin out a rabid animal once I killed it since only the saliva carries the virus. I'd wear gloves to be sure, but I hate stuff going to waste.

Coyotes are small? Not the ones where I live, unless the pups!

Though I'm wondering why your dog was outside while you were gone?

That makes me wonder what the point of having a dog is...I have a 131 lb mutt and he is allowed in the house. He's especially allowed in the house when no one is home.

op I'm sorry for your loss, but now you know were your dog is and you dont have wonder for how ever long if he/she is lost or coming home stupid coyote

Well at least you won't be left wondering.
