Today, I had to put up with a student who stubbornly insisted that King Solomon was, in fact, a Pokémon. FML

madden2014 tells us more.

OP here. For those of you who are curious, I work at a public high school teaching English. The class of interest here was my Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition class (made up of SENIORS). The issue came up because a sample practice objective test I passed out had referenced some biblical stories and a couple of students had questions on it. He still thinks Solomon is in one of his Pokémon games.

Where are you teaching that you're citing such an obscure figure as Solomon? If it was a religious conversation, I trust that the kid was just trolling you. Acting the fool is sometimes a good tactic to get someone talking about foolish things to stop. Not that religion itself is foolish, but if you have to get in an argument with a kid about it...

I don't know...religious history? The Bible as history? The Bible as literature? Comparative religion? Sunday School? Actually, yesterday was Thursday, so probably Bible study or CCD.

If it's an English class, they could be reading King Solomon's Mines.

Great. Next thing I know, your gonna tell me Iguanodon isn't even a pokemon. And I bet that BroBama isn't one either.

This is what happens when you teach Pokè-evolution in schools

Wow. It's official that video games and cartoons really have destroyed the minds of our youth.

Speak for yourself. I play games and watch cartoons and I'm quite fine. So are a lot of my friends. Sooo :P what destroys the minds of the youth are themselves. As long as they don't abuse what they got and know how to respect themselves, they're okay.

I'm pretty bad at history and don't have a clue who that is. But I know for a fact that is no pokemon. Dude must be either pretty stupid or is messing with you. Which, in my opinion, still makes him stupid.

I know that king Solomon from history lessons but I looked up yesterday king Solomon Pokemon and it is true it is also name of a Pokemon thing

Seeing as you teach AP, I'm pretty sure he was just messing with you. At least, I hope that was the case.

You teach Public school so I'm not really surprised. 1. Because its Public School 2. Because he might not be Religious

I'm sorry, but this isn't in any way a true FML. That's completely stupid, who the hell cares about Pokemon anyway?

I wonder if he was thinking of the Pokemon Salamence.

That is the most logical theory so far. Still a damn idiot, but at least it has a similar sound.

I'm a wizard. Can't use magic out of hogwarts though.
