To be fair, OP's friends are lousy surprise party planners. Rule number 1, always have someone stay with the person you're organizing the party for.. you never know if they'll want to change their plans and arrive earlier or, say, ditch the party altogether. With that said, it's pretty lousy to ditch an evening with your friends when you said you were coming, so.. whatever, OP, you still deserved it.
Not a smart move on your part.. Hopefully you will take it as a hint to not lie to your friends.

Except that it's not so much something that "happened" to her, as it is something obnoxious that *she* did. Standing them up makes her the bitch in this scenerio. The fact that they she missed her own surprise party just makes it funny.
