Today, I went to eat with my girlfriend, her parents and my mother. My mother complained about every aspect of the service. When I told her she needed to assert herself, she took her pocketbook and hit me over the head. The whole restaurant stared at us while she yelled "Is that assertive enough?" FML

Mom likes being the center of attention, does she?

At least now the whole family knows what you're escaping from, right?

#21 no. its not about the restaurant or the service. thats her son, they are eating with his gf and the possible future MIL. she is uncomfortable with the potential change. if he doesnt recognize whats bothering his mom, how is he going to have a clue when a relationship gets rocky? just b/c women are emotional and sometimes non-linear doesnt mean we get to stop relating in the relationship.

irhedarkone: You, my friend, are an idiot. He said it in a perfectly polite and sensible manner. If you think that what he told his Mum is insulting, then you need to rethink your priorities a bit.

You don't know how he said it, and by the sounds of it, he was patronising
