You need to remember, people sell homes to make money. Unfortunately, you'd be doing the exact same thing if it made you 25k more; 15k more; 5k more.. You sell homes to afford your next. Its unfortunate, but its business!

Your home will come soon, it will, keep looking and never give up!

Also, never stop paying rent on an apartment until you know paperwork has been signed for the new home. It gives you some time! Most landlords can give you a half year/ month-to-month rate if you're actively searching. Renting homes may be different, but if you let your landlord know within a certain time frame you'll be set.

Heart wrenching seems like a strong choice of words. Sure it’s disappointing, but if you had enough money to buy a house you can rent for the time being until you find something else. If all else fails find some land and build your dream home.

Why don’t you buy it from the flipping investor?

Sure, you’ll get flipped on price, but if you’re so flipping desperate, you’ll pay it and have a new story for Flip My Life!

Hardly heart wrenching, but see if you can’t rent month to month while you look for your future dream home.

I assume this means you're living in some overpriced leftist shitehole. Do yourself a favor- GET OUT. Find a job somewhere where the housing and cost of living are reasonable.

It’s human to make our plans as if they were 100% assured, but in reality (and Real Estate) nothing is certain until all the forms have been signed and finalized - As you learned. A similar thing once happened to me, though I am not sure who the other buyer was. While “warm fuzzies” like the seller liking the buyer have some impact, money counts most of all - It’s why the seller is selling.

OP - You managed to find one good prospect of a house to buy. So you know you can do it again. Do not give up.

You need to understand that people are in this for the money, they dont give a shit about your sob story, they care whats in their pockets, if the other person offered higher, that sucks, you need to make the highest offer to get the place. I'm 23, i own my own house.i lowballed a house for sale as a forclosure and they rejected the offer for $5K less than asking, i caved and paid asking, and to get the mortgage was denied my first try, and just kept filing paperwork until i got the mortgage and closed the deal.If your absolutely desperate to get the place, if its the place of your dreams, just cave and pay asking price if you think that you wolnt get it, no ones going to offer more than asking just to beat you to it.
