Today, my ten year old son realized something. Beer is alcohol. People who drink a lot of alcohol are alcoholics. Therefore I am an alcoholic for drinking beer with dinner. He told everyone at his conservative private school and they tried to have an intervention. They pray for me every day. FML

That's what happens when you're religious enough to send your kid to a special school because of it.

That's what you get for not discussing these issues with your child earlier. He's 10 and he just discovered alcohol? And on top of that you haven't taught him enough for him to understand the lack of severity in an adult drinking beer? YDI for allowing your child to stay ignorant, thinking it will preserve his innocence.

haha boo conservative private schools
definitely deserved that one. if you're gonna raise a kid, you raise em by example. if you tell em drinking is bad, you're therefore telling them that since you're a good parent and role model, you won't drink either :)

OP didn't say every day, and having a beer isn't drinking, having enough to get you buzzed is drinking.

Once a day isn't bad, especially a beer. He not an alcoholic, he probably doesn't even get a buzz ever.

It could be that it was the only good school in the area. My parents aren't religious and it had to go to a Church of England school because it was 10x better than the non religious school.

He probably discussed alcohol, but the kid realized his daily beer is alcohol as well, so here made an assumption. I don't think he deserves it, but he should probably do a better job educating his kid.

Don't drink in front of your kid. You are a role model. Way to go. Also, agreed with #8. If you didn't teach him otherwise, all your fault.

I hate it when people look at other people's actions or inactions and then give incredibly specific reasons why it happened as a matter of fact.
