It isn't really THAT bad... I think, although I have no idea of what the inside of a Wal-Mart is like (I'm Australian, no multiple Starbucks on any one of our streets either, mainly because there are none). Technically it means he wants to know if she loves him for who he is, rather than attempting to bribe her with a one time restaurant visit.
