Today, it's been five days since I started my new job in a new town, just signed a lease on my new apartment too. Now I find out the company's closing down, and since I'm still on probation, I'm told I'm not entitled to any kind of severance. FML

Today, I was supposed to start a new job. I had accepted a new position with a different company three weeks ago, and gave my notice. At the time, I even trained my replacement. Today, I found out that my new work doesn't need me anymore. So, I'm unemployed. FML

Today, I finalized my new car purchase after three months on the job at a new company. Two hours later, I was informed that my position has been eliminated. I have two weeks to find a new job or I'm completely screwed. FML

Today, I was fired from my job of 5 years. I was let go because I couldn't take the company to 'the next level'. My now ex-boss asked me if I could process my severance check because he didn't know how. I had to write myself my last paycheck. FML

Today, it was the first day of my new job. It was also the last day of my new job. I got a call immediately after finishing my shift to be told the company has "decided to go in a different direction" and will no longer be needing my services. FML

Today, after five different interviews, I got an offer for a great job. I was excited to fill out paperwork and get the ball rolling, until they called and said that I didn't pass the criminal background check. I get off probation in less than a week. FML

Probation meaning being new to the company and seeing if they are a good fit to the company, not probation as in OP being a felon. So no, this is not a YDI.

I was working for an electrical company that had many projects on the go. I had been with them for a few years and decided it was time to propose to my 6 year girlfriend. I spoke to the owner making sure there wasn't any layoffs coming soon before I bought the ring and they assured me there wasn't. I bought he ring, proposed and they laid off 3/4's of the company, including myself. Companies are out for themselves and it sucks. I feel your pain OP.
