Today, I saw my dad driving our red Dakota, and I thought it would be funny to tail him around town. It wasn't until I saw cop lights flashing in my rear-view mirror that I remembered that we'd given away our red truck. I'd scared an old lady so badly that she called the police. FML

Does your dad really look that much like an old lady?

Did the cops buy that story or was a ticket still given.

Ticket for what? Pretty sure that's not a traffic violation of any sort.

actually "following too closely" is an offence that is tickatable in the US and in Canada it earns you a fine and you lose 4 demerit points.

Maybe OP didn't get to see the driver because they were behind them? Especially if they were in a small car and it's an American 'truck'.

That's assuming they were tailgating. I read it as simply following them.

Oh no! That sucks. I sometimes forget that my mother bought a new car and get lost looking for her old car in parking lots.

How on earth do you even "forget" you've given a vehicle away?
