Today, I nearly got written up at work for missing an important memo. The memo was sent to everyone via the company Facebook group and not by our e-mail system. My manager could hardly believe people exist who have no Facebook account and have no intention of making one. FML

tell your boss he needs to send it via FML

Your boss seems very unprofessional. Honestly, a company relying on Facebook messenger to keep employees in contact does not seem all too appealing to work for.

I don't have facebook either and people look at me crazy when I tell them I don't.

No worries OP my manager at work doesnt even have a facebook. He hates the drama and doesnt like to have social media . Youre not alone

That sounds like a shitty, unprofessional job. I'm sorry but if I worked somewhere where I was expected to have a Facebook I would quit & find a more professional job. Facebook is garbage.

YDI In a society where pretty much everything is based off of social media, just make a FaceBook

Seems like a silly way to operate a company, hopefully they have a competent HR department.

Tell your boss under no circumstances will you have f.b. It is a major time suck and you could give two ***** less wtf someone had for dinner or their stupid selfies fishing for compliments. Tell them to send it in a professional manner or you won't be receiving it.

If your company has active group on facebook and use it as method of communication, then you sort of deserve it. Refusing to have an account to make some sort of point, on a website your company actively uses, is not going to help you in the workplace.

Agreed at least a work only account. Lot's of people have social media and it's convenient to share it with everyone at once especially some don't regularly check mail and spam filters ect... Personal guidelines are all well and good, but if it's required by management to make things more efficient you have to fall in line.

Good grief. About 1 billion people are on Facebook. That's one seventh of the population.
