Today, I met a nice guy who wanted to chat. I didn't want to be the bitchy type and throw him the "I have a boyfriend" line right away, so I conversed with him. When he asked was I single I, of course, said no. He yelled at me and made a huge scene about me leading him on. FML

Tough call - People are not always clear on their intentions. I do not think OP did anything wrong. Sometimes people are just friendly and like talking to another person. Sometimes it’s only about looking for a potential dating partner. The difference in the signs can be subtle at times. I think the guy has to be a complete jerk to react that way - Be thankful you were not on a date with such a piece of work.

Come on, you should know that you can't even give a man the time of day without him thinking you want to sleep with him.

It’s not funny if the FMLs aren’t similar.

It seems we as decent people just can't win when dealing with the opposite sex anymore.

I guess the “nice guy” part was just a façade. It usually is.

A lot of men feel like we owe them something. Tell them you have a boyfriend right off the bat? ''God, what's your problem, I was just saying hello!'' Wait a few minutes? ''You led me on!'' Either way, they're getting a 'no' and there's no good time to say that if they feel entitled

Does he think "Are you single?" is just a hookup line and not a real question?

You seem to have gotten confuzzled... You were the nice one and he was the one who had to worry about being bitchy xD

YDI, be honest next time. As a guy, we are used to being rejected, unless you look like Beckham.

Pretending to be nice and thinking people should line up and suck your dick as a reward is being dishonest. People like that get rejected not only for lacking in their looks and chasing out of league but also for seriously lacking in the common sense / personality department. I really don't understand people like that "oh I think you're hot so I pretend I'm nice but you shouldn't reject me because of looks or any other reason and be with me solely because I pretend I'm nice". People like that are single for a reason. And the tantrum when they get rejected... Hilarious.
