Been there! That sucks! Our supervisor at the time never managed time-off requests, and just said YES to everyone. There were so many times I was either alone, or had my own approved afternoon time off scheduled for a doctor or something, only to have everyone leave before that time... then upper mgmt would say YOU CANT LEAVE!

Then they haven't planned well. They should have factored this possibility in. If your job doesn't save lives then it isn't worth it -coming in sick. Shut the place and have the day off. Your work will survive but you are important and their lack of planning is not your problem.

You know, it's not safe for you to work when you're sick? That could lead to a WCB investigation if something happens while you're at work and sick.
