And Massachusetts is one of six states in northeastern US comprising the region known as "New England" since colonial times.

Hello! OP here. For those of you telling me that Boston, Massachusetts is named after Boston, Lincolnshire in England, I was already aware of that. My friend thought that the Boston Tea Party took place in England, and wasn't aware that there was a city of Boston in America (where we're from). Hope this clears some things up!
