Today, I found the source of the bad smell that has been plaguing me for the past two weeks in my apartment. The police knocked on my door asking if I've seen my neighbor recently. I haven't. The smell has been that of a dead person. It's a smell that even Febreze can't remove. FML

Today, I finally determined the source of the horrible smell that periodically invades my apartment: there's nothing wrong with the plumbing as I previously thought, I can just smell my neighbors pooping in their bathroom on the other side of the wall. FML

Today, I opened my front door to be greeted by what I can only describe as the stink of death. After moving furniture and lifting floorboards, frantically searching for whatever had died, I finally discovered the actual source of the stench - my girlfriend's feet. FML

Today, I returned home after a four day weekend at my parents' house. Upon entering by the front door, a horrid stench assaulted my nose. Hours later I still cannot find the source of the foul odor. I'm starting to wonder if this is how it's always smelled without my knowing. FML

Today, I came home to a terrible smell in the apartment. Three hours, and a scoured kitchen later, I took the trash out. The smell was not my apartment, but from just across the alley; a neighbor had moved and emptied their fridge. Six more days of sunned milk until pickup. FML

Today, I realized my morbidly obese, sweaty sibling is the source of a strange waft I've been smelling when I get home. He'll only shower once a week, so the apartment and furniture smell like sweat and sometimes poo, especially on hot days. I didn't notice until I went outside and stepped back in to follow my nose. FML

Today, I finally found out what that weird smell in my apartment was. My ex-boyfriend had been breaking into my apartment and hiding rotting fruit all over the place. I found this out when a ceiling panel fell and a swarm of fruit flies attacked me. FML

How come nobody can spell Febreze right? Everyone spells it Febreeze or Fabreeze or some other weird combination I can't even think up on my own. I never even used the product and I know how to spell it! May your neighbor rest in peace.

I'm sorry but I call shenanigans on this one. Although if it is true, that's absolutely terrible but honestly I doubt it is real. We would have at least heard this mentioned on the news or something.. #98 makes a good point by the way :)

People the body was in the neighbors apartment. Also I wouldn't have noticed he was missong because, frankly, i don't give a damn about my neighbors. They're a bunch of crazy old cat ladies, a stoner, and a crazy old **** that drives a golf cart instead of a car.

Not everyone keeps tabs on their neighbor. I didn't even know my neighbors until the second or third year of living there. I still wouldn't realize they went missing if I hadn't seen them for two weeks, because that isn't uncommon. I would've investigated the smell though. This sounds a lot like something from 'Lullaby' though, where the guy kills his neighbor and the body sits there for days, but maybe I'm the only one. At least it wasn't the apartment above yours — There'd be a body stain on your ceiling.
