Today, I finally told my dad about how I've been diagnosed with clinical depression. He began to recite a commercial for depression meds, but he couldn't finish because he was overwhelmed with laughter. FML

SSRI's are of very little assistance, due to the physiological nature of a human mind, body, and soul not being restricted to serotonin. The medical field slowly becomes an industry as more and more people rely on bandage solutions... If it helps you, fine, that's great. But it shouldn't be your anchor.

45- i agree with you. i believe that if there are ways to cure without chemical drugs, then it should be used. i know doctors who will prescribe medicine for the smallest things... i want to do research to find natural solutions that can help diseases without chemical drugs

That isn't how depression works. You can't just cheer someone up. Let them know that they can talk to you, listen to their problems, and have them go see a therapist. That is the best way to handle it.

How do you know I'm not sorry? I'm not a bad person. This is a website and doesn't make me who I am. I was just joking around. I don't want someone depressed! That's ridiculous if you think I do.

Some people can be so insensitive. Hopefully you can find people to support you through this.

Having to look outside your family for support and encouragement is often an ordeal in and of itself, which almost certainly makes it harder to deal with whatever you may be going through. Hopefully the OP has a close group of friends or a significant other who is more accommodating.

It's sad that some people, like the OP, have to look outside of their own family for support. Family should always be your frontline supporters.

Reference to Hulu - maybe it's too specific but I figured most people has at least heard the famous intermission before a TV program starting at one point :)
