Today, I asked a guy out on a coffee date, and we started talking about our mutual careers. At the end of the date he asked me if I had any more questions about job opportunities or any more advice, then shook my hand and gave me his contact card. FML

yeah, you can't do that to a guy if it's a coffee date, it's like a business meeting, not a DATE date

I agree with #5. If you were just talking about work and stuff nothing is going to happen.

Ask him out again but be a little clearer/talk slower this time. Pretend last time was about job opportunities but that you like him now. He could not have been sure if it was a date and not wanted to look like a jackass by assuming it was. He probably wants a clearer signal that you like him because he's insecure.

well I asked him on a date, and suggested coffee since we are both busy. he picked the starbucks IN the hospital (where we work). I guess I should have figured he was steering the get together away from 'date'.

r u OP?

You're probably the first OP I ever saw post a message on their own fml. For some reason, people don't do that.

"The FML's author" means it's the op talking.

That sounds like a horrible date. He was probably trying to find clients.
