Oh my gosh, that sucks! Look at the bright side, now you can take him to court and get twice the amout back. Depending on the state rules where you live. FYL indeed!

So you don't have to leave until the new owner makes themselves known. Then if te new owner wants you out, they have to pay to move you. In any state: as the renter you are protected because it isn't your fault the mortgage wasn't paid. Getting a renter out is more difficult than an owner. Call your landlord/tenant hotline for your state to verify your rights.

hey now you got some extra money.

Good plan. it'll just take a while...

/Stares a bit at #10's picture, but then suddenly coughs abruptly and attempts to focus. Anyways, FYL, I'll ditto #1, that is SO unfair... experienced it before, though.

my old landlord wanted me to pay him rent after they started forclosing. people are idiots. oh and yay for being in top 10 comments!

Big achievment?

Where in your lease did it say you didn't have to pay him rent because a foreclosure procedure was initiated? Unless you can point to that clause in your lease you're legally bound to pay rent according to the terms of your lease whether he makes his mortgage payments or not. Talk about idiots.

Oh hot damn. You might be able to sue him tho, depending on the laws in your state.

Sucks... =/

sign a lease/rent agreement much?

I was in a lease when my landlord did it to me. poster probably was to.

Nobody f*cking likes landlords anyway.

this happened to me too. best house i have ever lived in, 2 years there, evicted because the asshole claimed bankruptcy.

this sorta happened to me cept I never sold any of my things, but had to move because my landlord was way behind on child support payments.

I hope you can find somewhere else OP. That really sucks.
