I'm sorry, but "being on vacation' is no excuse for not getting your stuff done, especially a work related project. If there's anything i learned in college is if someone hasn't done their part of a project, or just "forgot", you can bet i'm not adding their names on the project. Heck, even when i had my vacation time, i'd still get my projects done. Frankly, if i were in your shoes, I'd just do the missing work myself and just have my name and the other fellow collegues names ( if it was just you and her, then just keep it as your name) on the project. She's just competely irresponsible for not getting her half done. Let her get in trouble for her actions, don't take the fall for her OP.

Do you have to check an email to find out your co-worker is not there? Have you no eyes? Is your co-worker invisible? have you no cake?.....Mmmm cake!... be right back.

If I don't see coworkerd I normally assume sick, not on vacation. As for OP, whoever approved leave while projects are outstanding is a dumb arse. Basically green lit them to stop work on it.

I can't believe I'm doing this..... How long ago was her vacation approved, and when was this project assigned? I had a boss that used to give large work projects right before you went on vacation, expecting you to work while gone. If you didn't come back from holiday with the extra work done, your life would be miserable when you came back. Upper management and hr didn't care, because his numbers were good. I say we need more information.
