Today, a friend who I hadn't seen in a while offered to give me a ride. I didn't really know how to give directions to my house, so when we had been driving for a while and it was getting awkward, I just pointed at a random house and pretended to live there. FML

@48, The fml said that the friend offered the OP a ride. This could mean that the OP always walks home or uses public transportation. I know exactly how to get to my home on foot and when I go with the bus, but don't ask me how to get there in a car. I have no idea what road to take and maybe OP had the same issues.

I do think that the OP should have been honest and told the friend that he/she didn't know the directions. Just imagine how awkward it would be if the friend wanted to hang out and went to that house and figured out that the OP didn't live there.

66 what do you know about the 90s? You were born in '91. Nintendo released its game system in the 80s. The first cell phone came out in 1930 (installed in a car). The first windows computer was introduced in 1981. Technology has always transpire from generation to generation, this is another step to how we as humans evolved decade to decade. Don't blame technology for a lazy, unmotivated society, blame those that are lazy and unmotivated. I was in kindergarten in 1990, playing NES system, which was before you were born, therefore don't start on how much better off kids were in the 90s.

How do you not know how to give directions? When you come to a street turn either left, right or go straight. What way do you walk home follow the closest route. I used to take public transportation but I still knew how to give directions even without street names. How do you know where you're going if your don't know how to get there?

140 - I'm sorry to hear that, I really am. Don't mind the people on here. They only attacked you on for a insignificant reason.

Please everyone stop fighting, we have reached the end of the argument.

I really don't understand how you can know how to walk home but can't give directions there whilst riding in a car. Do you only cut through gardens and side streets and parkour over rooftops?

Unless you live in an area with many one way streets, you should be able to figure out how to get a car close to your house.

I don't know how to get home until i am ON the street that my neighborhood is on. Then i can find my way home once i get inside. I simply dont pay attention to street signs. Thats why i am so nervous about getting my permit because i have no idea where i'm going. My town hardly has any sidewalks outside of separate subdivisions and no city buses unlike where i used to live so you have to drive EVERYWHERE!

Not everyone has a smart phone would work better here being that not only iPhones have some kind of map or gps technology.

I have a feeling someone is going to come along and say "Well, actually...."

When I was younger I thought Dora spoke French instead of Spanish. Took me a long time to realise why my grades sucked. :P
Teacher: What's water in French?
Me: Agua!
Teacher: It's eau.

I can see it now:
OP walks up to the house, rings the doorbell..
*Awkward waiting time, smiles at friend in car*
Creepy enough guy opens the door, followed by a slight smirk.

Do you go in?!
