Scottish Pizzeria Serves Deep Fried Mars Bar Calzones
An Italian restaurant in Glasgow, Scotland is selling a 1,973-calorie deep-fried calzone and calling it "One of the world's unhealthiest pizzas". It's served with butterscotch sauce and a scoop of chocolate ice cream with grated almonds on top. The "Mars-gherita Pizza" can be found at Roman's Pizzeria in Merchant City, and people are rushing in to try it.
Fraser Walker, the general manager of Roman's Pizzeria, says the idea came from a simple chat with the head chef. "The shop has been open here for about 5.5 months and we wanted to bring out something different," said Walker. "We are known for our Roman-style pizza, and after speaking to the chef about different ideas we came up with that."
For anyone that's forgotten their Roman mythology, Mars was the Roman god of war. This decadent dessert is certainly going to go to war against your arteries. Clever, eh?
Head chef Dawid Radzinski spoke up as well:
"I've been a chef for 20 years and what we've done is completely original. When I first made it, we all tried it together and we all loved it. The dessert has been here since Monday and people think it’s really tasty."
We probably won't be trying this dish any time soon, but if you're in the UK you should give it a go and let us know how it is!
What's the weirdest dessert you've ever eaten?
