New Zealand Cops Feeling Awkward After A Hacker Broadcasts NWA’s ‘Fuck Tha Police’ on Repeat Over Police Scanners

It’s a tough time to be a cop. They’re trusted less now than ever before after countless instances of brutal force and racial profiling and while many of these instances take place in the United States, it appears the anti-police sentiment has made its way across oceans...all the way to New Zealand.
Over the weekend, police in Dunedin, New Zealand were met with their very own semi-anarchist hacker troll à la Guy Fawkes in V for Vendetta, who rather than broadcasting a revolutionary speech over the television, broadcast an equally revolutionary rap song over police radio scanners.
The song? NWA’s “Fuck Tha Police.”
Savage, isn’t it? You can see how this could get awkward. The hacker also broadcast a cover version of the song by Rage Against The Machine.
While it’s hard not to see the dark humor in this situation, Dunedin police experienced serious delays in response time, due to the radio interference.
The police have no leads on the identity of the hacker, but it’s possible he or she could be a serial offender. After all, this is not the first time their scanners have been hacked. Over the summer, police reported hearing sounds of “pig grunts and abuse” being broadcast over the radio in what could be interpreted as a more veiled threat to the force, considering cops are often referred to as pigs.
Whoever this hacker is, their savagery will go down in history. Or at the very least, it will go down in police records.
